REDDINGTON.

Reddington is an old and dilapidated village, situated in the
northeast part of Redding Township. It was laid out June 10,
1837, by John Prather, and consisted of forty-three lots. Lot
No. 19 was donated, by the proprietor of the town, for church and
school purposes. For many years Reddington was quite a
thriving little village; had its stores, blacksmith shop, doctor, etc.,
but after the completion of the Jeffersonville, Madison & Indian-
apolis Railroad, to Rockford, but little business was done for a
considerable time. At present, the principal business is done by
Charles and John Swingle, and Fred Huber.
